SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING
One of the greatest challenges today facing classroom teachers is to educate and to assist in the development of children who are knowledgeable, responsible, caring, and socially competent.
This course is designed to help teachers learn about the importance and effectiveness of integrating social-emotional learning into classroom instruction. Throughout the course, teachers will learn practical ways to integrate social-emotional learning strategies to increase student well-being, behavior management, and academic achievement in the classroom. These skills help to increase engagement in the classroom, as well as creating a safe environment wherein teachers can build and deliver rigorous instruction.
The focus of this course is to show teachers how the integration of social & emotional learning into classroom instruction and procedures increases student engagement and academic achievement and creates a culture of learning, thereby minimizing classroom management disruptions.
Through the presentation of practical techniques as well as resources for accessing cutting-edge ideas and tools, participants will increase their ability to develop and maintain a classroom that is well managed, and where students understand and utilize skills such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management, and responsible decision making to maintain a well-managed and an academically rigorous environment.
