Book study on Distrupting Thinking: Why How We Read Matters by Kylene Beers and Robert Probst; 10 weeks of reading, discussion, collaboration, and sharing ideas. Expectation for credit is approx. 3 hours spent a week: reading, reflecting/posting on blog, reading posts of other’s and responding. Participants will understand the importance of examining how we support and engage students in meaningful reading. Participants will examine thinking strategies when reading, specifically "book-head-heart" as a framework.
Participants will better understand the challenges of "fake news" and the importance of guiding students to think critically, creatively, collaboratively, and compassionately.
