ZONES OF REGULATION BK STDY
YOU MUST BE A TEACHER FOR SYCAMORE SCHOOLS TO PARTICIPATE
We are working as a building to promote a school-wide system of positive behavioral support for all our students. This book study will be integral to the implementation of that system. It will increase the capacity of our staff to respond proactively to student’ s social and emotional needs through a literacy-embedded approach.
Participants will read and reflect to prepare for each discussion session. They will write in their reflective journals and bring those journals to each of the 13 sessions. The time outside of the sessions that participants will need is 6.5 hours. Additionally, they will write a reflective paper as summative evidence of their learning.
Participants will know about how to integrate Social and Emotional Learning with Literacy Lessons. They will be able to use the “Friendship Workshop” format to teach in this integrated manner. They will collaborate with team members to develop strategies to teach the core social skills of: self-regulation, being part of a group, empathy, kindness, peacefulness, responsibility, self-control, perseverance and giving and getting feedback.
