Course Description:

Students in grades K-8 who struggle with math calculations or math reasoning usually require alternative instructional methods that address underlying difficulties with conceptualization, memory, sequencing, discrimination, attention, organization, language, or directional/spatial skills.  This presentation will provide an overview of these problems and alternative instructional methods and materials to teach concepts, basic facts, place value, algorithms, fractions, decimals, money, time, measurement, algebra, and word problems.  Materials demonstrated will include Numicon, Base Ten Blocks, Cuisenaire Rods, math balances, fraction squares and strips, Descimal Squares, geo-boards, Algeblocks, Touch Math, Semple Math, and Singapore Math.  For more information or questions please contact Tom Diebold at
