Course Description:

YOU MUST BE AN EMPLOYEE FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE TO PARTICIPATE

In this course participants deepen their knowledge of the College and Career Readiness Standards for Writing. Through the gradual introduction of writing standards and strategies, participants understand how to meet the demands of the CCRSL in their classroom. Literacy trainings provide participants the opportunity to collaborate on literacy instruction strategies, focused on writing, across all disciplines.

Participants collaborate within their own grade and subject area on implications for their curriculum face to face and through the Schoology Literacy Virtual Support Network. During the course participants implement a UbD writing lesson synthesizing their understanding of the CCRSL and the instructional shifts and strategies. Following classroom implementation of the lesson, participants collectively evaluate student writing samples using the DoDEA rubrics and refine their instructional plan.
