Having worked for over 20 years in the field of career services at institutions such as Michigan State University, East Carolina University, and the University of Kentucky, Lenroy Jones brings a comprehensive set of skills and competencies to an office that is charged with “creating Powerful Partnerships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and employers and providing outstanding career-related services to Ashland University stakeholders."
Lenroy earned his Master of Arts in College and University Administration from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Science in Interpersonal and Public Communication from Central Michigan University. He has received several honors, such as recognition as an Outstanding Young Man of America. He received the Michigan State University’s Distinguished Volunteer Award by the President’s Office and the Service Learning Center for outstanding service and leadership to community service. He is the recipient of the Army Achievement Medal for commendable performance of duty, organization, technical expertise, managerial skills, leadership, and professionalism by the U.S. Army and a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Lenroy was commissioned a second lieutenant by CMU’s Army Reserve Officer Training Corps prior to completing his undergraduate degree. He then went on to graduate from the United States Army Officer Basic Course and began his career as a residence life hall director with CMU in 1986. His work in career services started with an appointment as an assistant director at Michigan State University in 1996. Lenroy says, “he loves working in career service because this area provides him the opportunity to serve students and alumni in getting connected to the career of choice"
Personally he enjoys cooking and a good sunrise/sunset! Lenroy takes an annual Father-Son fishing trip to the Pere Marquette River in Northern Michigan and can be often found with his Dad in Ludington, Michigan Lighthouse watching and excited about catching a Salmon (Chinook, Coho) and/or Steelhead! His family and friends will tell you that he’s never met a stranger and is passionate about his faith, family, and calling.
He attended Consolidated Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky where he was active member as an associate minister and the church administrator. Lenroy was born in Detroit and is the youngest of four siblings. He plans to live in Ashland, Ohio.
