Dr. Cathy Stoffer earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio; a Master of Arts in Mathematics from John Carroll University, University Heights, Ohio; and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Mathematics Education from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio. Dr. Stoffer joined Ashland University in 1984. She was the chairwoman of the Department of Mathematics of Computer Science between 1998 and 2001. Dr. Stoffer has taught a variety of mathematics courses including Developmental Mathematics, Finite Mathematics, PreCalculus, Calculus for Management Life & Social Science I and II, Calculus I and II, Elementary Statistics, Mathematics for Early Childhood Teachers, Mathematics for Middle Grades Teachers I &II, Senior Seminar, and Teaching Secondary Mathematics Dr. Stoffer's research interests include Proficiency Tests, Attitudes and Beliefs about Mathematics, and Mathematics Licensure Requirements. She is a member of Ohio Mathematics Education Leadership Council, Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Ohio Section Mathematical Association of America, and the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). Dr. Stoffer has served on numerous committees for the Ohio Section of the MAA and is currently serving as the Director of the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics State Tournament of Mathematics and on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
