Project Lemonade

On Oct. 11, Ashland University President Frederick J. Finks recognized two young boys at the annual Founders Dinner. Luke, 9, and Jack Pomfret, 7, sons of Associate Vice President of University Campaigns & Government Relations Margaret Pomfret, had made a donation to the University from money they received operating a lemonade stand earlier in the summer. The donation was $8.47.

11-0 & Hosting Playoffs

The Ashland University football team finished the season 11-0, champions of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and has advanced to the NCAA Division II playoffs for the fifth time in school history. The Eagles are second seed in Super Region 4 and will get a first round bye before hosting the winner of Chadron State and West Texas A & M on Nov. 24 at 11 a.m.

Author Stacie V. Hutton of Columbus, who received her masters of education degree from Ashland University in 1998, has written a new book, “Shovelful of Sunshine,” which is about a little girl named Meggie Gwinn who has lost her dreams and her coal miner father helps her to get them back. The book has been extremely successful, reaching the top of the Amazon.com book list.

In addition, Ashland University stands alone as a private school that offers a very broad toxicology program covering topics ranging from pharmacology to environmental toxicology.

Elyria Evening Classes Canceled

Due to the continued power outage at all LCCC campuses, all evening classes at Elyria will be canceled for tonight.  

Elyria Day Classes Canceled

 Due to a power outage, all LCCC campuses are closed until noon and day classes are canceled for Wednesday, October 31.

-- Classes beginning before 4 p.m. are canceled

-- Offices open at noon

-- The Stocker Arts Center Performances of Sleeping Beauty are canceled

-- Food services will be unavailable and vending services will be limited.

Elyria Classes Canceled

The LCCC campus in Elyria is closed so all evening classes at that location are canceled for tonight.
