Ashland University Symphonic Band
The Ashland University Symphonic Band is the flagship wind ensemble of the university. The organization stresses a high level of musicianship and performs a variety of repertoire. Rehearsals are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4:30-6:00 PM, during the Late Fall (November) and Spring semesters.
An audition is required for admittance into the ensemble and take place in October/November during Fall semesters and in January during Spring semesters. Enrollment in Symphonic Band (MUSIC*010B/010C) is required to be notified of audition dates and times. Students may audition on more than one instrument.

Ashland University Marching Band
Ashland University’s Eagle Marching Band consists of 65 students, plus a color guard and featured twirlers. The group performs for all home games and travels to marching exhibitions throughout Ohio. One of the most active organizations on campus, the band has come to represent the best in musical presentation and exciting movement within a contemporary style.

Ashland University Jazz Orchestra
Ashland University’s Jazz Orchestra is one of the finest in Ohio. Made up of both majors and non-majors, the Orchestra performs for concerts and campus events throughout the year. In addition, the Jazz Orchestra hosts the annual Maplerock Jazz Festival, inviting outstanding high school jazz ensembles to perform and work with the finest professional jazz musicians in the country. This ensemble tours annually and an audition is required. Small jazz combos are also formed as schedules allow.

Ashland Area Community Concert Band
This ensemble is designed for both university students and members of the Ashland community The ensemble rehearses one evening each week and performs a wide variety of literature from Broadway selections and classic marches to masterworks transcribed or written for concert band. No audition is required.

Music Scholarships
In addition to generous scholarships for qualified students majoring in music, the Music Department encourages membership in these ensembles by offering scholarships for non-majors whose contribution is vital to each ensemble’s success.
