Environmental Lecture Series: Nature Experiences Across the Life Span: Exploring Pathways of Possibility
Presented by Dr. Kristi Lekies
Associate Professor of Environment and Natural Resources, The Ohio State University
An increasing amount of research has documented benefits of nature for human health and well-being, particularly in childhood. How can these benefits be experienced across the life span and in ways that also contribute to the health and well-being of ecosystems? Learn about lifelong impacts of nature, ways of discovery, and actions we can take to make a difference.
Dr. Lekies has been on the faculty at OSU since 2006. Her research focuses on experiences of place with a special emphasis on children and youth. She studies individual experiences in natural settings, geographical communities, and education and recreation programs. She teaches courses for both undergraduates and graduate students. In addition to numerous scholarly publications, Dr. Lekies produced Youth Beat Radio for Columbus radio stations from 2009-2022. This program featured youth service, leadership, and perspectives, as well as provided an opportunity for students interested in media production.
The lecture will also available by webinar.
