Foods and Nutrition Minor

The Foods and Nutrition minor provides students with a strong foundation in the science of nutrition and its application across health, performance and food systems. Through focused study, you will explore how nutrition influences health across the lifespan and among diverse populations. This minor is especially well suited for students preparing for careers in health care, strength and conditioning or the foodservice and hospitality industry and complements majors connected to health, wellness and human performance.

Curriculum

Students complete coursework in chemistry, food science and human nutrition, along with hands-on learning experiences in food preparation and applied nutrition. The curriculum includes core courses in food and meal preparation, food science and human nutrition, with additional options that allow students to tailor the minor to their interests, such as lifecycle nutrition, foodservice management or advanced nutrition topics. Experiential learning opportunities in the Dietetics Food Lab help students connect classroom knowledge to real-world practice.
