Ashland University moves to some virtual instruction in advance of Thanksgiving break

11/19/2020 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University faculty are transitioning most of their courses from face-to-face to a virtual online format as soon as possible to allow students who can return home to do so in advance of the Thanksgiving break.

The move comes in light of the state’s surge in COVID-19 cases, as well as Gov. Mike DeWine’s request to focus on COVID-19 mitigation. “As always,” said President Carlos Campo, “Ashland University’s first priority is the health and safety of our campus community.”

The University announced at the beginning of fall semester that students would return home on Nov. 25 for Thanksgiving break and then would complete the semester remotely before beginning Christmas break, and they are accelerating this process out of “an abundance of caution” as the virus spikes in Ohio.

The Ashland University Jazz Orchestra will record its fall semester concert today (Thursday)  instead of  performing  Saturday evening. The video of the concert will be made available on AUJO and the Music Department’s social media outlets in addition to the AU Video Portal (http://auvideo.mediaspace.kaltura.com/). 

Those who remain on campus will continue with COVID-19 mitigation practices: wearing face coverings, washing hands frequently and engaging in social distancing.
