ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University has been honored as a College of Distinction for the 2026-27 academic year, a designation reserved for “only those institutions whose campuses reflect a genuine, student-first philosophy” according to the college resource guide for students, parents and counselors. Ashland also received program distinctions in five categories: business, education, nursing, career development and military support.

This is the second consecutive year AU has received this award, signifying the school’s dedication to Colleges of Distinction’s four unique evaluation criteria: Engaged Students, Great Teaching, Vibrant Community and Successful Outcomes.

“This recognition from Colleges of Distinction is a testament to the exceptional work of our faculty and staff,” said Dr. Jon Parrish Peede, president of Ashland University. “The addition of five program distinctions highlights the breadth of the Ashland experience and our commitment to preparing students for lives of purpose, leadership and service.”

Colleges of Distinction evaluates institutions through extensive research and detailed interviews with university leaders, identifying those that demonstrate a strong commitment to preparing students for an uncertain world. Tyler Schritter, chief operating officer for Colleges of Distinction, said “Ashland University delivers that through the kind of intentional, high-impact education that equips students for whatever comes next.”

Schritter added, “No two students arrive on campus with the same goals, background or definition of success. The institutions we recognize understand that. Ashland University has built an environment where students are supported and challenged in ways that translate into real academic, professional and personal outcomes.”
