ASHLAND, Ohio – Whitney Atwell, an Ashland University student from Mansfield, was named The J.M. Smucker Co. Scholarship award winner for the academic year 2020-2021 at the recent virtual AU Student Institute of Management Accountants meeting.

Atwell is a 2018 graduate of Madison Comprehensive High School and plans to graduate from AU in December of 2021 with a major in accounting and a minor in religion. The $2,500 scholarship was presented by Joyce Carpenter, J.M. Smucker manager of coffee finance, online via Zoom.

The J.M. Smucker Co. scholarship of $2,500 is awarded annually to a returning junior or senior Ashland University accounting or finance major with a GPA of 3.0 or better. Preference is given to those qualified students who have successfully completed an internship in the industry and are members of the Institute of Management Accountants student chapter, Eagle Investment Group, or other student organizations at Ashland. The scholarship is above and beyond AU financial aid.
