7-27-21 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University President Dr. Carlos Campo has been named to the Social Capital Campaign Advisory Board, a nonprofit that promotes social capital – and the institutions that create it – to policy makers and thought leaders.

"I am honored to join the advisory board of the Social Capital Campaign," he said. Like many others in our nation, I believe that renewed civil discourse and emphasizing our shared values can lead to brighter futures for all Americans. I am looking forward to joining with many others on this journey," an ongoing exploration of how America celebrates both diversity of opinion and background more harmoniously.

The campaign is chaired by Rick Santorum, the chairman of Patriot Voices and a former U.S. congressman. He is joined by policy experts, academics and practitioners. Together, the group works on ways policy makers can best support people’s aspirations to live the American dream, to grow in trust of each other, and to have the confidence to live not only with people of different backgrounds, but different opinions, too.

Campo is the 30th president of Ashland University. He formerly was president of Regent University, Virginia Beach, Virginia, an educational consultant for the Gates Foundation, chair of the Alliance for Hispanic Education for the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, and chief academic officer at the College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas, where he started their first Latino Studies Program.

Campo received his doctorate in English from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, where he was recently named Outstanding Alumnus of the Year.
