AU Symphonic Band, Ashland Area Community Band presenting “Star Wars and Stripes”

ASHLAND, Ohio – The Ashland University Symphonic Band and the Ashland Area Community Band will present “Star Wars and Stripes” during their annual combined Spring Band Concert this Friday, April 28. The free concert will take place at Hugo Young Theatre at 7:30 p.m.

The program will feature John Williams’ famous theme song from Star Wars, as well as a series of familiar patriotic numbers. Among the selections will be “American Salute,” a military classic by Morton Gould, “Sanctuary,” a modern piece about enduring friendship, and “Aurora Borealis,” which depicts the beauty and the mystery of the Northern Lights by Rossano Galante.

The AU Symphonic Band consists of about 60 students from Ohio and across the U.S. and performs a variety of literature throughout the academic year, while the Ashland Area Community Concert Band features musicians from Ashland and the surrounding counties who desire to continue their musical study and creative activity.
