AU welcomes finance expert Bill Miller as COBE Executive in Residence

ASHLAND, Ohio – William P. Miller II, a Chartered Financial Analyst and leading expert in finance, has been approved to serve as the Dauch College of Business and Economics (COBE) Executive in Residence at Ashland University for the 2025-26 academic year.

As the COBE Executive in Residence, Miller will connect his years of experience and knowledge as a business leader to higher education and career preparation for today’s students. He will provide expert insight on various areas, including strategic planning, course content and internship and graduate employment programs. Miller has been a member of COBE’s Advisory Council for three years and played a role in AU earning business accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

“I am excited to welcome Mr. Bill Miller as our Executive in Residence for the Dauch College of Business and Economics,” stated Lance Kaltenbaugh, interim dean of COBE. “Mr. Miller’s commitment to Ashland University and his distinguished leadership experience make this an extraordinary opportunity for our college’s continued impact and growth.”

Dr. Jon Parrish Peede, president of AU, also praised the announcement. “Our students are fortunate to learn from a great faculty, as well as a seasoned business executive with global leadership experience," he said.

Miller has held several chief executive positions at companies throughout his career, including currently as senior managing director of Financial Markets International in Washington, D.C. He previously was the chief financial officer for the Saudi Arabian Investment Company, the deputy chief investment officer of the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System, the senior risk manager for the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and a senior vice president for the Commonfund Group. Miller spent more than 20 years in various positions with General Motors Corporation.

Miller has served on several boards. He has been a member of the corporate governance at American Axle and Manufacturing (AAM) since 2005, including chairman of the audit committee since 2007. Richard E. Dauch, which the college is named after, was the co-founder of AAM, one of the world’s leading automotive suppliers and a multi-billion-dollar company.

AU’s Dauch College of Business and Economics offers a wide variety of undergraduate programs, ranging from traditional disciplines such as accounting, finance, management and marketing to more specialized areas such as entrepreneurship, fashion merchandising and brand management, industrial systems and engineering and sport management. There are also master’s level programs that feature a number of formats and specializations to advance one’s career.

The Dauch College of Business and Economics also houses the Burton D. Morgan Center for Free Enterprise & Entrepreneurship, devoted to encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation of all AU students, no matter their major.
