Eagle Investment Group distinguishes itself at Quinnipiac competition

04/21/2021 ASHLAND, Ohio – A quartet of Ashland University Eagle Investment Group students recently earned second-place honors in the Quinnipiac Global Portfolio competition’s Undergraduate Value Division.

Jacob Boerner, Jessica Kritschil, Jacob Koehler and Justin Stritmatter submitted EIG’s portfolio results and then presented to a panel of judges, distinguishing themselves and EIG among the 150 colleges and universities involved in Quinnipiac’s Global Asset Management Education Forum.

The group was second only to Washington College’s Brown Advisory Student-Managed Investment Fund and ahead of the American University of Beirut’s Student Managed Investment Fund.

Undergraduate and graduate teams competed in a variety of fund categories, including core, growth, value, fixed-income and small fund.

"I couldn't be prouder of this group of students,” said Assistant Professor of Finance Dennis Witherspoon. “They have worked very hard this year to earn this award and have brought honor to Ashland University in doing so."

Eagle Investment Group is a for-credit course that offers students the opportunity to perform real-world stock and portfolio analysis and manage a portfolio of approximately $1.9 million. Members of EIG Research and analyze various sources of information using advanced analytic tools and databases, make decisions in real-life scenarios and Collaborate with teams to achieve the overall goal of increasing the Endowment fund

EIG Students graduate with a Bloomberg terminal certification, are prepared to take their SIE exam for stockbrokers and dealers.
