ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University’s 2025-26 Environmental Lecture Series continues on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 7:30 p.m., when Rev. Jessica Moerman, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Evangelical Environmental Network (ENN), presents “Christian Environmental Stewardship: Biblical Principles for Addressing Climate Change.” The free event, which is being co-hosted by the AU Department of Religion, will be held at Ronk Lecture Hall inside the Dwight Schar College of Education.

Rev. Moerman is a climate and environmental scientist, pastor, educator and advocate. At ENN, she leads a non-profit organization that educates, inspires and mobilizes Christians in their efforts to care for God’s creation, to be faithful stewards of God’s provision, to get involved in regions of the U.S. and the world impacted by pollution and to advocate for actions and policies that honor God and protect the environment.

Prior to leading ENN, Rev. Moerman was an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the U.S. Department of Energy. She has also held research positions at Johns Hopkins University, the University of Michigan and the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, where she examined how climate has changed throughout Earth’s history.

Rev. Moerman, who holds a Ph.D. in earth and atmospheric sciences from the Georgia Institute of Technology, is a board member of the National Association of Evangelicals. She is a co-founding pastor at her church in Washington, D.C., and is passionate about leading church communities towards positive solutions to safeguard our cities, neighborhoods and the next generation from the effects of a warming world and life-threatening pollution.
