Local artists win several awards at AU's Juried Student Art + Design Exhibition

ASHLAND, Ohio – The majority of awards from the Juried Student Art + Design Exhibition at Ashland University went to local student artists, it was announced by Cynthia Petry, director of AU’s Coburn Gallery. The exhibition runs through March 23.

More than $1,100 was distributed to the winners across a variety of categories, while the People’s Choice award will be announced on the gallery’s Facebook page on March 23.

The outside juror for the exhibition, which represented a culmination of student work from university classes, was Heidi Weller. She grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and studied classical Greek and Latin in college, but by the time she entered graduate school her interests had changed to art, specifically photography. Weller worked as an industrial commercial photographer, and has exhibited works at the national and regional level. She is an active member of the Ashland arts community.
