ASHLAND, Ohio – Marsha Curry-Nixon, the founder of a flourishing ministry, will be the keynote speaker at Ashland University’s commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 6. The ceremony, which honors both undergraduate and graduate students, will take place at the Niss Athletic Center (905 Moss Hill Drive) and begins at 10 a.m.

No tickets are required for commencement. It will be streamed live at ashland.edu/commencement.

Curry-Nixon, an educator, counselor and mentor, has an inspiring life story to share. She suffered various levels of abuse, became a young mother, turned to drugs and ended up in prison for three years in the 1990s. Her remarkable transformation began while incarcerated, as she learned to forgive, found her faith and trusted that God had a plan for her future. Curry-Nixon developed a mission to help men and women with similar life experiences to believe, create and attain their dreams through her ministry, consulting and speaking opportunities.

Today, Curry-Nixon is the founder and executive director of Amiracle4sure, Inc., a ministry that is focused on renewing, refreshing and restoring the life of individuals whose lives have been impacted by negative experiences. She visits prisons, rehabilitation facilities and churches to educate communities on the needs of this population. She also trains and empowers professionals interested in working on reentry practices.

As an advocate for reformation, Curry-Nixon brings her expertise to community organizations in central and eastern Pennsylvania, including as a trainer and facilitator for Healing Communities. She serves as a member of the advisory boards for The Council of State Governments and the Correctional Ministries Chaplains Association. She also is the lead vocalist for The God Squad, a ministry that shares worship and carries a message of hope to those in homeless shelters, rehabilitation centers, local transitional houses and prisons.

Curry-Nixon holds an associate’s degree from Harrisburg Area Community College, a bachelor’s degree from Lebanon Valley College where she graduated with honors and a master’s degree in public service leadership.
