Program Overview

Over the last ten years, Ohio’s percentage of English learner students has doubled to approximately 60,000 students. These students represent more than 110 different native or home languages. How well prepared are you to meet the learning needs of this growing population of students?

Both the 12-credit-hour TESOL Certificate and the 15-credit-hour TESOL Endorsement Program can be completed in one year or less.

These programs are for graduate students who plan to teach students abroad or adult English- as-a-Second-Language students. However, the 12-hour certificate is not designed for PK-12 teaching in the United States.

All courses are available online; some may also be offered face to face.

Learning Experiences

The TESOL coursework complements a wide range of related disciplines, including foreign languages, international studies and communications, and provides theoretical as well as practical instruction to students seeking training in TESOL. The programs also serve students with an undergraduate degree who are seeking specific training to improve their employment prospects where language, culture and communication are concerned.
