Ashland University Wrestling Coach Colt Sponseller sees only one problem with having his nephew, Walker Uhl, on the team. Ashland University's athletic department is heading toward another "crossover season" – winter sports coming down the home stretch of their seasons and spring sports ramping up theirs. The Eagles have upcoming Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships in swimming and diving (Feb. 16-19 in Canton, Ohio), indoor track and field (Feb. 25-26 in Findlay, Ohio) and women's and men's basketball (both March 1 and 4-5 at sites to be determined).

Hall of Famer Dr. Fred Martinelli passes away at 92
05/15/2021 ASHLAND, Ohio -- Dr. Fred Martinelli, who led Ashland College/University's football program and athletic program to new, successful heights from the late 1950s into the 1990s, has died at 92. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 12 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 220 Sandusky St., Ashland. Martinelli was the Eagles' head football coach for 35 seasons, and served as Ashland's athletic director for a near-quarter century.
Three lead donors make new Niss Athletic Center a reality for Ashland University
