CCP Program Rules:
1. Academic Record: You are enrolling in college level courses which become part of your permanent high school and college academic records, including your college transcript and GPA.
2. AU Student Status: As a CCP student, you accept registration as an Ashland University student and are subject to all academic and other published regulations in effect during the school year.
a. Courses taken for high school graduation credit may impact your ability to graduate high school. Your high school graduation could be jeopardized by such factors as course availability, unmet prerequisites, academic probation restrictions, etc. It is your responsibility to work with your high school guidance counselor to ensure high school graduation and sports eligibility requirements are met. You hold Ashland University exempt from all responsibility for your high school diploma completion.
b. Your class standing (especially if you are in contention for valedictorian or salutatorian, etc.) can be positively or negatively impacted by your GPA. You accept this risk when you enroll. The effect on your GPA and/or class standing cannot be undone retroactively; the election of self-pay must be made at the time of enrollment in the course (ORC 3365.06).
c. Should your AU GPA fall below 2.0 (considered “underperforming”), you will be placed on academic probation or dismissed. Ohio Revised Code 3333-1-65.13 outlines the rules and conditions of an under-performing student.
3. Orientation: Upon admission to the program, all CCP students (regardless of course location), must complete the Orientation Module (ashland.edu/ccp-orientation) and the Enrollment Survey at the end of the module. The survey contains the State-required Mature Subjects Questionnaire; by law, students cannot be registered for any course until it has been submitted. Students should carefully monitor their email and follow all directions provided by AU to ensure a smooth transition to the program.
4. Registration: CCP students can only be registered by an advisor in the CCP office. They cannot register themselves online; instead, students use this form, ashland.edu/ccp-registration to submit their choices. You should NOT submit any registration requests to the Registrar's Office. Schedule changes not processed by the CCP Office may result in you/your family owing tuition for enrollment in non-funded courses.
5. Dropping a Class: Students are permitted to drop a course without any consequence during the first 14 days of the course. You and your family may be financially responsible for reimbursing your school district for your tuition, including fees, books, and materials, if you drop or withdraw from a course after the 14th day of the term, or if you fail to complete a course due to a failing grade or through nonattendance. Students who wish to drop a college class should consult with their high school counselor and the college CCP office before doing so. To drop or withdraw from a course, you must email the CCP office, collegecreditplus@ashland.edu. After the 14th day, the CCP office can assist you in determining the college's withdrawal deadlines.
6. Registration Credit Limits: Students may not register for more hours than indicated by the school counselor/principal, in alignment with State regulations. If a student registers for more hours than allotted, the family will be billed by Ashland University for all tuition, fees, and textbooks/materials associated with those courses. Additionally, if you are a home school or private school student, you must present your award letter at the time of registration. This letter can be found in your OH|ID account and indicates your number of approved credit hours.
7. Privacy: Your student records are protected under the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), regardless of your age. Parents should never contact instructors regarding student progress, attendance, assignments, etc. Information may not be released to a parent or other individual unless you, the student, give written consent.
8. Parental attendance: Parents are not permitted to attend courses with students unless the parent is registered for the course as a paying student.
9. Disability/IEP:If you have a documented disability or IEP, it is your responsibility to request necessary accommodations through the AU Student Accessibility Center. Your high school IEP does not establish accommodations for your AU courses.
10. Placement: Admission to the CCP program does not guarantee placement in any course. Students must be able to meet all placement and prerequisite guidelines. Should a student be admitted test-optionally, their course selection could be limited due to lack of scores to determine placement.
11. Course Evaluation: You will be asked to complete a course evaluation at the end of course. A link will be sent to your AU email account.
12. Textbooks: Textbooks are the property of your school district if you participating under Option B, and must be returned according to the school's instructions. Textbook purchase is the responsibility of the student if participating under Option A.
