ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University has been recognized as a 2023-24 Best Graduate School for education by U.S. News & World Report, as announced Tuesday by the publication that is widely respected for its education rankings.

Designed for prospective students who are seeking a doctorate in education, U.S. News used a distinct and data-driven methodology in building its Best Graduate Schools rankings. Categories that were assessed included research activity, academic excellence of entering students, faculty resources and opinions on program quality from education school deans and school hiring professionals.

“On behalf of the College of Education, we are honored to receive this recognition,” stated Lisa Vernon-Dotson, dean of AU’s Dwight Schar College of Education. “It is confirmation that our faculty are excelling at preparing graduate students for leadership roles, and we will continue to help students develop and enhance their skill set across various levels of education.”

Ashland ranked 226th among the 459 schools granting doctoral education degrees that were surveyed. Within the state of Ohio, Ashland was No. 10.

“When prospective students are considering their options, the Best Graduate Schools rankings are designed to help them identify schools that excel in the program they want to study,” said LaMont Jones, senior editor of education at U.S. News. “With many options available, U.S. News provides a wealth of data in an easy format to help each student make the best decision.”
