Program Overview
Are you a curious, critical thinker and wordsmith seeking ways to be seen, read and heard? Consider the Digital Media Journalism Program! You will gather information to produce news programs, sports content and entertainment in print, broadcast and digital media, becoming a dynamic storyteller using images, text and sound.

Learning Experiences
Ashland University is the only small college in Ohio to offer a fully converged journalism degree. Throughout your studies, you will write, report, shoot and edit in both the classroom and in real-world settings. You will produce and share compelling stories, leveraging the power of print, digital and social media to master the art of journalism.
You will also:

Curriculum
Your coursework will include classes, applied labs and internships that emphasize writing, research and story development across multiple media platforms. Expect courses in video development, camera shooting aesthetics and image editing techniques, plus anchoring and reporting.

Every year we select one student to receive a special internship with NewsChannel 5 in Cleveland. This intern receives a stipend and is able to work behind the scenes at a major-market news station and sports operation.
