KNOW BETTER, DO BETTER BOOK STUDY WCS 2021

This class is a hybrid (online and face-to-face) study of Know Better, Do Better by David and Meredith Lieben. As we read the book, we will watch videos, respond to surveys and answer discussion questions online using our school district’s online platform called Schoology. This analysis will help us determine how kindergarten through second grade classrooms in Westerville City Schools currently approach the reading instruction that is expected in their grade level. This study will address how K-2 teachers are teaching the foundational English Language Arts Standards from the state of Ohio. It will also help to develop teachers’ knowledge and understanding of the explicit systematic needs of our youngest learners. This knowledge will ultimately increase our ability to create environments where students are able to grow, thrive and learn at high levels.
