SPECIAL ED TRAINING RESOURCES
Course Description:
YOU MUST BE AN EMPLOYEE FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE TO PARTICIPATE
This course will allow Special Education ISS & NDSP team members an opportunity to review and reflect on two training tools which are available to our teachers and paraprofessionals. Participants will enroll in both programs and explore the materials available. Participants will complete at least three modules from the DirectStep program available through the Army EFMP. After completion they will share a reflection on how the training was presented and whether it would be recommended for future trainings. Participants will also enroll in the special Ed Connection resource that has been provided by DoDEA Headquarters and learn how to navigate the website, create search queries and locate information. Each member will share their reflections with the group and provide feedback to members.
By the end of the course the learner will:
- Enroll and explore the DirectStep and Special Ed Connection resources available
- Complete at least three DirectStep modules
- Understand how to navigate the Special Ed Connection website and retrieve information
- Reflect, share and discuss information on how these tools can be used to support staff members working with students with disabilities

Course Assignments:
- Enroll in DirectStep & complete at least 3 modules. Certificates should be submitted to the instructor by May 13, 2016 (7 hours)
- Complete 1 page summary on each module completed and share with the group by May 13, 2016 (3 hours)
- Enroll in Special Ed Connection & explore resources. Review the User Guide located in the Help Desk, create a query, review Special Ed Roundups, and more (4 hours)
- Complete 1 page reflection on Special Ed Connection, sharing at least 3 findings/resources, with the group by May 13, 2016 (1 hour)
- Reply to at least 3 group member reflections by May 20, 2016 (1hour)
E. Schedule:
- All module certificates & reflections should be completed and shared with the group by May 13, 2016.
- Group members should read and respond to reflections by May 20, 2016.
